Just the word “fasting” can send me into a tizzy as I love to eat.
BUT, fasting has some profound health benefits like supporting metabolic health, promoting healthy aging, reducing inflammation, and rejuvenating your overall health.
However, straight water fasting isn’t great for women due to several reasons; one being that hormonal systems are much more sensitive and complex when compared to men. Women often struggle with low blood sugar, hormone imbalances, and thyroid issues when fasting too frequently. Dr. Valter Longo, a biologist, specializing in longevity, found that women should avoid water-only fasts because they are three times more likely than men to develop gallstones. Water only fasting increases this risk.
