Have you ever thought about the level of fitness required to complete an Ironman race in under 17 hours? I never had, until Nanette came in to see me for lower back pain that was affecting her training for this very difficult race. After a few short weeks of chiropractic care Nan’s pain diminished and she was able to resume her training regimen which was getting harder by the week. She was soon pain-free, and chose to continue her chiropractic care throughout and up to race time.
My humble patient, Nan, who completed her first Iron Man in under 15 hours, now chooses to continue her chiropractic care throughout her life even though her pain is gone. She understands that chiropractic care is so much more than pain-relief.
Listening to some of Nan’s stories about her difficult training and keeping the right mind-set has taught me some things about these extraordinary men and women. After learning about everything that goes into training for such a race, I now call them “super- humans.” I think it’s fair to say that training and completing an Iron Man is definitely a feat that is beyond what most of us would take on.
I have come to learn that their certain characteristics of these Iron Man runners like Nan, possess. Here are a few…
Mental, Emotional and Physical Strength
And… a finely tuned body and Nervous System!
Nan found that chiropractic care assisted in having a finely-tuned body and nerve system which are two very crucial assets to have whether you are an Iron Man runner or just looking to live a high-quality life with a lot of energy and zest!
“As an avid runner, for months, I was experiencing significant lower back pain after running just 1 hour. I started working with Dr. Keough and signed up for my first Ironman triathlon during that time. A few months later, I completed the race in 15 hours with zero back pain during the race and absolutely no soreness in the following days. Without Dr. Keough on my “training team” I wouldn’t have been able to finish the race or feel as great as I did afterwards!
Thanks Dr. Keough!! Thanks for being on my team! ~ Nanette L.
